The correct production process for injection molds
The production process of injection molds is the same as the production process of other industrial products. It is the whole process of converting raw materials into various products through various processing. There are many types of molds, their structures, uses and requirements are different, but their production processes have commonalities, which can be basically divided into five main stages: production technology preparation stage, raw material preparation stage, parts processing. Phase, assembly commissioning phase and trial identification phase.
Production technology preparation stage: This stage is the basis of mold production, which has a major impact on the quality, cost, schedule and management of the mold. The work in the production technology stage mainly includes: the overall design of the mold, the design of the parts, the preparation of the technical documents, the formulation of the material quota and the quota of working hours, and the estimation of the cost of the mold.
Raw material preparation stage: At this stage, all raw materials and materials used for mold production are prepared one by one. One of the most important tasks is to prepare all kinds of blanks. Because of the variety and structure of injection molds, the raw materials required are also very different. The blanks are prepared according to the shape, process size and materials required for the mold parts. The blanks must be in the form of castings, forgings and various materials.
3. Parts processing stage: This stage is an important stage to ensure the accuracy of the mold. It mainly includes: machining, special processing, surface processing and heat treatment. Machining mainly uses metal cutting tools to machine metal materials. It is well known that molds are almost assembled from metal parts. Machining is the primary means of obtaining parts that meet the requirements of the drawings. Therefore, machining is one of the most labor-intensive processes.
Followed by special processing, the structure of the mold is quite special. Since the plastic product is a three-dimensional member, it is formed by molding a cavity formed by a male and female mold. Such a cavity with a curved surface is difficult to handle in general machining, and even if it is barely processed, the quality is difficult to ensure. Therefore, special processing, such as EDM, is required. Electroforming and molding. These special processing has become an indispensable processing method in mold processing.
The third is surface processing. Generally, the surface requirements of plastic products are high. The surface of the plastic parts is required to have good gloss and roundness. This requires that the corresponding cavity surface is very smooth and round, because the cavity is generally curved. The usual machining is difficult to guarantee the quality, which requires special surface processing of the mold, mainly grinding, electrochemical polishing, ultrasonic polishing, extrusion polishing, shot blasting and so on.
The fourth is heat treatment. In the production of injection molds, all important parts are heat treated, and some parts have to be processed many times. Because heat treatment is the main method to change the properties of metal materials. Since the mold is generally produced in a single piece, the production cost is high, and people always hope that it can be used for a long time. Therefore, the mold is required to be durable, and the heat treatment can change its internal structure and shape without changing the shape and size of the part. Performance is an important way to ensure the intrinsic quality of parts.
4. Assembly and commissioning phase: This phase is to assemble and debug various parts together. The quality of the assembly work is decisive for the quality of the mold. Assembly is a very technical job, and even a small mistake can make the mold produce no qualified products. Assembly is generally divided into component assembly, component assembly and total assembly. After assembly, the adjustment is performed. This is to adjust the relative position, fit clearance and structural tightness of each part. This is a key process that is easy to use.(injection molds)
