Classification of Hot Runner Systems

Generally speaking, the hot runner system is divided into single-head hot runner system, multi-head hot runner system and valve gate hot runner system. The single-head hot runner system is mainly composed of a single nozzle, a nozzle head, a nozzle connecting plate and a temperature control system. The structure of plastic mould for single hot runner system is simple. The molten plastic is injected into the nozzle connecting plate by the injection moulding machine. After the nozzle reaches the nozzle head, the cavity is injected. It is necessary to control the size and adjust the thickness of the nozzle connecting plate so that the fixed plate can press the end of the nozzle connecting plate, control the axial displacement of the nozzle, or directly use the nozzle of the injection machine to hold the end of the nozzle connecting plate. A lead groove is arranged at the appropriate position of the fixed plate of the die, so that the power cord can be drawn out from the die and connected with the connection seat installed on the die.

The plastic mould structure of multi-head hot runner system is complex. The melted plastic is injected into the nozzle connecting plate of the injection moulding machine. The hot runner plate flows to the nozzle and reaches the nozzle head. Then the injection cavity is injected. The nozzles of the hot runner system and the fixed formwork have the requirements of radial dimension matching and axial dimension limitation. The nozzle head and the fixing insert have the requirement of radial dimension matching to ensure that the melted plastic does not overflow to the non-cavity part, and the hardness of the fixing insert is required to harden about 50HRC. The distance between the parting surface and the axial positioning surface of the thermal nozzle must be strictly controlled. The size should be determined according to the actual distance L of the nozzle at room temperature and the actual extension of the nozzle at the normal working temperature of the die. In order to ensure that the nozzle and the hot runner plate fit reliably and do not cause deformation of the hot runner plate, an adjusting pad is arranged above the top of the nozzle. The adjusting pad, together with the axial positioning surface of the nozzle itself, restricts the nozzle's axial movement and effectively controls the possible deformation of the hot runner plate. At room temperature, the gap between the adjusting pad and the hot runner plate and the fixed plate of the fixed die is controlled by 0.025 mm so that the adjusting pad can be pressed exactly when the die is heated. The positioning seat and pin of the hot runner system together control the position of the hot runner plate in the die. The positioning seat and the fixed template have the requirement of radial dimension matching, and the depth must be controlled accurately. The axis of the positioning seat plays the role of supporting the hot runner plate and directly bears the injection pressure of the injection machine. The positioning pin and the fixed plate of the hot runner plate are required to match. Adequate voids must be left between the hot runner plate and the template in order to wrap the insulation material. The hot runner plate and the fixing plate must be provided with sufficient wiring grooves so that the power cord can be drawn out from the die and connected with the wiring seat installed on the die. There is a requirement of radial dimension matching between nozzle connecting plate and fixing plate, so that the nozzle connecting plate of injection moulding machine can match well with the injection head of injection moulding machine. In the vicinity of the hot runner plate, the fixed template, the fixed plate and the fixed plate of the hot runner plate are connected with screws to enhance the rigidity of the hot runner plate.
