Mold Structure and Working Principle

Mold structure

The main working parts are composed of fixed wedge, movable wedge of concave die, forming punch and punching punch, and the standard die frame with guide pillar sleeve guiding form is adopted.

Working principle

The working principle of the three-step compound stamping die for the support base is that when the die is in the upper limit position to be worked, the blank bar is placed on the blanking die and the forming punch, and positioned by the side plate and the positioning pin. When the die works, the upper die goes down with the slider of the press. First, under the action of the spring, the blank is pressed by the pressing plate, the blanking process of the blank is completed by fixing the wedge and the concave die together, and the punching process of the punching punch is completed by 20mm small hole. As the slider of the press continues to go down, the fixed wedge bends the blank in a U-shaped way. At the same time, the fixed wedge pushes the movable wedge to move towards the center of the die to make the blank move inward. Bending, complete the final forming process of the workpiece. Finally, the die reaches the lower dead point and moves upward with the slider. The fixed wedge and punching punch exit the blanking die and forming punch respectively. The spring returns to push the movable wedge to move to both sides of the die. At this time, the formed workpiece can be removed from the die and the stamping work is completed.

Design of Main Parts


The punch material is Cr12MoV steel with heat treatment hardness HRC58~62. The punch belongs to slender rod because of its large punch diameter. The bending strength of bearing and instability should be checked in design. Structurally, in order to improve the strength and stiffness of the punch, the punch can be designed as a stepped shaft or fitted with a punch sheath.

Forming punch

Forming punch can be made of T10A steel with heat treatment hardness HRC56 ~ 60. Forming punch has complex shape and uneven wall thickness, so caution must be taken in heat treatment. In practical operation, pre-cooling quenching or filling asbestos rope in the inner hole can be used to reduce the tendency of heat treatment deformation and cracking of the workpiece.

Concave die

The blanking die can adopt a mosaic structure. After the die is worn out, the gap between the punch and the die can be kept unchanged only by removing the insert edge and grinding and installing suitable gaskets. The cutting edge of the die is made of T10A steel with heat treatment hardness HRC56-60, fixed by screw and pin, and the body is made of 45 steel with heat treatment hardness HRC28-32. This can reduce the use of valuable materials and improve economic efficiency.
